Course Objectives: What Your Team Will Gain

Each course is built around one of four core objectives, with two brief lessons per objective, to maximize understanding without overwhelming your schedule.

1. Master the Purpose and Structure of HOPE

  • Understand why CMS created the HOPE tool and how it supports hospice care quality.

  • Break down key domains, time points, and how HOPE fits into the patient journey.

2. Navigate CMS Documentation and Reporting Requirements

  • Learn the ins and outs of HOPE-related regulatory expectations.

  • Ensure timely and accurate submission to protect compliance and performance.

3. Build Confidence in Completing HOPE Items

  • Apply CMS guidance with real-life case examples.

  • Practice interpreting and coding HOPE items correctly and consistently.

4. Meet the Symptom Follow-Up Visit Measure

  • Understand what triggers the requirement for a follow-up visit.

  • Know how to document symptom follow-up visits for moderate/severe impact of pain or other symptoms to meet CMS standards.

How It Works

The HOPE Summer School Series is an eight-part micro-training program designed for hospice nurses to complete in between visits, on their time, at their pace.

  • 8 bite-sized modules (5-20 minutes each)

  • Designed for on-the-go learning between patient visits

  • Includes interactive quizzes, scenario-based training, and downloadable tip sheets

  • Hosted in a mobile-friendly format

Let us help your team succeed with HOPE — and stay ahead of the next phase of hospice quality reporting.
